Kit Hammonds is a freelance curator and writer and Second Year Tutor on the Royal College of Art’s Curating Contemporary Art MA. From 2003-2008 he was an Associate Curator/Curator at the South London Gallery where he curated the group exhibitions Games & Theory, 2008, The Weasel, 2007, The Mothership Collective (with Harold Offeh and Around the World in Eighty Days (with Margot Heller, Jens Hoffman and Clare Fitzpatrick), both 2006, as well as solo exhibitions by Ryan Gander, Thomas Zipp, Mark Dion, Daniel Roth, Nigel Cooke and John Armleder. His exhibition Ground Level was the winner of the Hayward Curatorial Open in 2010, and is current touring to the John Hansard Gallery, Quad, Oriel Mostyn and Leamington Spa Museum and Art Gallery.
His ongoing project Publish and be Damned brings together artist publishers at fairs and through an accumulative library.
From 2003-2007 He was a London Correspondent to Tema Celeste Magazine, and contributed feature articles on the work of Runa Islam and Contemporary Art in Brazil as well as regular reviews. He has additionally contributed to a number of other publications including the catalogues: Hannes Zebedin (Secession, 2009), Are Blytt (Leiden Art Centre, 2010), the readers: Emergence Art (Montehermoso, 2008) and art journals including: Art Monthly, AN, Visual Arts Ireland, Map, Untitled and Celeste.
