'Who are the English?' An Exploration of English Identity

The long history of migration in England has created an ever changing and diverse population, so in light of this ‘What does it mean to be English?’
If we live in England, we are increasingly identifying ourselves as English rather than British. This event will explore the idea of modern Englishness with excerpts from the BAFTA award winning film 'I am Nasrine'.
This is the focus of the event promoted through the partnership between IPPR, British Future and Discovery Museum, Newcastle. The list of invited speakers includes:
• Shiraz Haq, the lead male actor in the film
• Mark Robinson, North East writer and Director of Thinking Practice
• Baroness Joyce Quin, former Minister for Europe and MP for Gateshead East and Washington West
• Matthew Rhodes, Director of Strategy and Relationships at British Future, anew thinktank promoting identity and integration.
