The Porous Museum: Making Connections, Building Partnerships

22-25 February 2013

Kilkenny, Ireland | Kilkenny Castle

The IMA Conference will build on the national emphasis that has been placed on the Irish diaspora in 2013 - enacting its own 'gathering' of professionals that recognizes and promotes the powerful networks and affinities which distinguish the Irish museum community. In sessions which foreground domestic and international flows of professional expertise, learning and cooperation - between Irish museums and their international counterparts - this conference will explore the relationships that enervate and strengthen Ireland's cultural institutions.
Following on from the IMA's 2012 conference 'Rising to the Challenge', invited speakers and conference participants will share their experiences and expertise on a wide range of topics, including: enhancing links and networks to academia and partner institutions; professional development pathways and international exchange opportunities; interfaces between exhibitions and education; promoting public access and developing our audiences; responding to and transforming through public reform processes.

The IMA is inviting submissions for the Members' papers session, due to be held on the 22 February 2013 from 12 noon - 2pm. If you are interested in making a 15 minute presentation, please email the Conference Sub-Committee with a title, short biography (150 words) and 150-200 word abstract before 5pm on 11 January 2013.
