National Inventory Research Project Director, Honorary Research Fellow

Andrew Greg is Project Director of the National Inventory Research Project 'NICE Paintings': the National Inventory of Continental Paintings, currently working with the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Royal Academy and Apsley House funded by the Kress Foundation.

He also led the research project American Art in UK Public Collections, funded by the Terra Foundation and Henry Luce Foundation and is the academic partner of the Public Catalogue Foundation and the BBC in the projects Your Paintings and Your Paintings Tagger, which involve members of the public, as well as ‘expert’ taggers with art history experience, and academic ‘supervisors’, in tagging the 200,000 paintings with descriptive metadata. Such data is essential for paintings to be searched for and found on Your Paintings. To ensure accuracy and usefulness the raw tagging data is subject to statistical analyses devised in association with Arfon Smith, Galaxy Zoo Technical Lead at the Dept of Astrophysics, University of Oxford.
